Here at WebOnyx we have been working on a new product called Clarion Care. It is essentially an easy way for employers to distribute benefit money to their employees through the use of health savings accounts (HSA) and high deductible health insurance, as well as providing the individuals with the tools to make the most of their health savings account. The growth of HSA’s has been pretty consistent since they were introduced in 2004, and according to recent statistics more then 8 million people have HSA accounts. By our estimates there will be another 5 million accounts opened in the next two years, possibly more depending on how the health care debate ends in Washington D.C. We could debate the merits of HSA’s all day long, we could tell you that they save you money, that they are a great way to build wealth, that they are not just for health people, but you can visit www.clarioncare.com for those types of answers. I want to take this post and talk about focusing on your core.
How does a software company enter the health care insurance world? By focusing on what we do well. Building products that are easy to use, intuitive, and useful. We are not a bank so we find partner banks that share our vision of easy to use interfaces. We are not an insurance agency, so we find insurance companies that share our vision of simple and straight forward quotes and sign up. We are a software company though so we can add value to the offerings of HSA/HD insurance by bringing the previous offerings together and creating an easy to use Health Management Interface that includes a safe and secure place to store medical records and track medical spending. In the future we hope to add the ability to have cheap easy e-visits with your doctor, access this data through your mobile phone as well as the ability to rate and review your health care experiences.
Essentially our core is the Health Management Interface for both the employee and employer and we off load the other parts of the process to trusted partners. As we grow these partners grow. When picking a project and doing the project planning always ask yourself is this within our core? Is this features something that we can do better and cheaper then anyone else? If not then it is essential that can you find someone else who does it and is willing to partner and grow with you.
